Supervisor of Outreach and School Improvement - (Position Effective July 1, 2017)

SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Outreach and School Improvement or their designee, the Supervisor of Outreach and School Improvement will provide effective assistance to the communities, schools, and district staff to strengthen parent/family partnerships through engagement and capacity building initiatives that align with student achievement. The Supervisor of Outreach and School Improvement will serve as a connector for communication, volunteerism, decision making, systems navigation and community collaboration to improve student success.

SPECIFIC DUTIES: 

·         Work with data management department to collect, analyze and monitor all data relevant to student management. 

·         Provide community meetings with local organizations supporting Hillsborough County School projects. 

·         Coordinate community groups and district committee(s) to provide information forums to address disciplinary concerns with all stakeholders. 

·         Visit School sites to monitor academic and discipline disparities. 

·         Conduct situational analysis and examine strategies for making school more effective. 

·         Network throughout the community to create an infrastructure and a climate of collaboration that creates transparency, strengthens connections with parents, families, and others who share a commitment to prepare students for life. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. 

Education: A master’s degree.  Degree or formal training in Educational Leadership preferred. 

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching, with three years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.  Administrative experience preferred. 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate: Educational Leadership, School Principal, or Administration and Supervision.

Senior Mechanical Engineer, HVAC

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible to research, develop, and oversee the implementation of Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) mechanical standards for the purpose of ensuring a quality educational learning environment for our students and staff.

Duties of this position include:

• Providing technical mechanical system consultant services and administrative standards support to the project management team

• Researching, developing, and updating mechanical HCPS Design Criteria Standards

• Perform, coordinate, and monitor mechanical system plans’ reviews

• Prepare mechanical design drawings and specifications for minor projects and volunteer 

Professional qualifications include: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  

• Five (5) years practical experience in mechanical engineering is required. 

• Experience in planning, design and construction for educational facilities, SREF and FBC is preferred. 

Preference will be given to Engineers registered in the state of Florida.

Assistant Director, Compliance and Staffing 

The Assistant Director for Compliance and Staffing will provide assistance to the General Director of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) in the provision of services to students with disabilities and their families, and to school and district staff, to ensure that district processes, procedures and policies align with all federal laws and regulations, Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules. The Assistant Director for Compliance and Staffing will direct all activities related to monitoring of the District’s compliance to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·         Provides oversight of activities related to compliance and staffing to include the dissemination of information regarding laws, regulations and rules; training of district and school staff; monitoring of compliance documents; and full time equivalency (FTE) reporting.

·         Serves as district contact person for all ESE mediations, state complaints and requests for due process and 504 hearings.

·         Attends ESE mediations on behalf of the district, and performs all the duties related to ESE mediation, including serving as the district personnel with decision-making authority for mediation agreements.

·         Coordinates District’s response narrative and the provision of supporting documentation to the Florida Department of Education regarding allegations asserted in state complaints that have been filed against the District, and performs/supervises all other requirements related to state complaints.

·         Coordinates all required district activity related to requests for due process hearings filed by parents or their representatives, including communication to the Division of Administrative Hearings, and with parents, in addressing the dispute issues, and in scheduling and convening the required resolution meeting.

·         Attends due process and 504 hearings as district representative and performs all other duties related to due process hearings.

·         Maintains current and compliant district Understanding Compliance Issues (UCI) online manual.

·         Maintains current and compliant district Fast Facts online documents.

·         Maintains current and compliant online information related to 504 compliance.

·         Supervises the fulfillment of all duties related to independent educational evaluations.

·         Formulates and chairs work groups, or trainings, as necessary, to address proposed changes to legislation and/or State Board of Education Rules, to ensure district compliance to all federal and state mandates. 

Professional qualifications include: 

Education: A master's degree. Degree or formal training in Exceptional Student Education and/or one of the following preferred: Educational Leadership, Administration and Supervision, or School Principal. 

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching, with three years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.  Exceptional Student Education experience preferred.  Experience and past involvement in the formal dispute resolution process relative to the IDEA preferred. 

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate. Educational Leadership, School Principal, or Administration and Supervision. An appointee who possesses subject area certification but does not possess the appropriate administrative certification will be given four (4) years from the date of appointment to obtain the appropriate administrative certification.

·         Serves as the District’s spokesperson to the media.

·         Handles emergency communication during crisis events.

·         Gathers information, verifies accuracy and informs the Superintendent and others on emerging situations; serves as media liaison to the Superintendent, Board members, and District staff.

·         Manages public records requests. Assures accurate and timely dissemination of information.

·         Ensures all materials meet the District’s communications standards.

·         Stays on top of communications trends – and reviews various metrics – to make sure District content is being distributed and consumed via the most effective channels.
